21cm x 20cm x 3cm
This unique state print work has been created using individual hand scribed etching prints using copperplate etching and aquatint. Hand cutting and stitching was used to create the three-dimensional element of the artist book, creating a literal depth to the artwork. This was a deliberate choice to use traditional printmaking and bookbinding techniques, undertaking a slow and meticulous process of creating a singular artwork as a measured response to the fast paced, mass-produced content saturation prevalent in today’s society.

This hand-cut and intaglio-printed artist sheet explores urban growth through a single, intricately carved map of street networks. Etched lines and embossed textures contrast with voids, merging the precision of printmaking with the fragility of paper. Gridded order clashes with organic sprawl, while absences mark erasure and change. Transparent and opaque layers evoke both visible infrastructure and hidden histories. As light moves across the surface, shadows and impressions shift like the rhythms of a living city. The piece becomes a sculptural meditation on resilience, memory, and transformation within the evolving fabric of urban space.
