Naomi Antenucci is an award-winning Western Australian printmaker, photographer and bookbinder. She graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, majoring in printmaking, and a Graduate Certificate in Urban Design.
During her career she has won numerous awards, including the $8,000 Cossack Works on Paper Art Award and the $20,000 Black Swan Heritage Prize. She has thrice been selected as a finalist in both the Black Swan Heritage Prize and the Fremantle Print Award. She was the sole representative for Oceania as a finalist in the 9th International Biennial Print and Drawing Exhibition at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Republic of China. Her diverse printmaking skills have awarded her prizes for both two dimensional and three-dimensional printmaking art techniques.

Naomi’s current work explores and challenges the traditional perception of printmaking as a two-dimensional artform. Her work combines bookbinding and paper art with traditional printmaking processes to explore the interplay of depth within her artworks. This fusion of old and new techniques provides a unique perspective and interpretation of traditional processes in a contemporary style. The construction and deconstruction of ideas and the themes of perception and placement are important aspects of her work. She has made a conscious choice to challenge the limits of technical proficiency based on hand craftmanship instead of a reliance on computer generated AI materials and processes. It is a deliberate choice to use traditional printmaking techniques in new ways, focussing on a slow and meticulous process of creating unique state print works, a parallel to the complex and convoluted world.
The technical process of printmaking has always intrigued and inspired her. It is this methodical progression combined with her realistic drawing skills which translates her ideas into her finished body of work. She is meticulous and detail-oriented, producing intricate artworks which are unique in this mass-produced world.
As well as being an accomplished printmaker Naomi has explored other art mediums. She was the winner of the GST Category, GSTA Urban Landscape Awards for photography. She is a published children’s author and illustrator, and was a Western Australian Industry and Export Award finalist. She has had representation in both national and international exhibitions with numerous other awards and commendations.
Naomi currently works from her inner-city studio in Perth, Western Australia.

“Printmaking is fun because it takes a perfectly simple process like drawing and makes it as complicated and error prone as possible.” – Unknown
